ADRE Question Paper Leak Update
Three people have been arrested by Dhemaji Police for their involvement in an
alleged leak of used question papers from the recently held Assam Direct
Recruitment Examination (ADRE). The arrests were made on Tuesday after images
of the leaked question paper went viral on social media.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Mangal Singh Basumatary, a
photographer; Manohar Narzary, an invigilator at the Upendra National Academy
Examination Centre; and Dwijen Boro, a candidate allegedly involved in the
scandal.
Mangal Singh Basumatary, the first to be taken into custody, worked as a
photographer appointed by the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) at the
Upendra National Academy in Simen Chapori, located in Dhemaji district.
According to the Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh, Basumatary
admitted to taking photos of the question paper after the exam concluded at
1:30 PM. He then circulated the images to multiple individuals, who are now
also under investigation. Authorities have confiscated Basumatary’s mobile
devices as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Inquiry On ADRE Question Paper Leak
DGP Singh hinted at a larger "criminal conspiracy" behind this incident,
suggesting that the goal might have been to undermine the state’s recruitment
process. “Further investigation is underway to uncover the conspiracy behind
this attempt to defame the examination process,” Singh mentioned in a social
media post on Monday.
As the news of the leak spread, concerns grew among candidates about how it
might affect the exam results. However, some believe that the timing of the
leak, which occurred after the exam ended, may lessen its impact.
One candidate, who took the exam in Mirza and spoke to The Assam Tribune
anonymously, shared, “At my center, SEBA-appointed photographers documented
the invigilators tearing the seals of the question papers. Since the papers
are already available on the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC)
website, I don’t think it will have much of an effect on the results.”
The leaked question paper, which carried booklet number 1035034, appeared on
social media within 24 hours after the exam ended on September 15. Over
11,23,204 candidates took part in the Grade III recruitment exam across 2,305
centers in Assam, with more than 70,000 invigilators supervising the process.
The investigation into the leak is still ongoing. [no_toc]
